of new global regulations for social media companies that were expected to come into effect soon.

“Here’s the thing, I’ve known Elon for a long time,” Spiro said, looking
into the camera. “Elon is willing to take extraordinary amounts of legal
risk.” Some of the people on the video call put their heads in their hands, in disbelief that a seasoned lawyer would say something like that out loud.

“He’s launching rockets into space,” Spiro said. “If the worst we get is a
query from the FTC, that’s not the big leagues for us.
“People who work at companies are not supposed to talk to media. Thosewho are doing it and think I’m dumb and don’t know it, I do know it andwill watch it develop and put my foot down if I want,” Spiro said, referencing Musk’s willingness to crack down on anyone who leaked to the press. The call ended soon after.
