Johannes Schöner (1477–1547) one of the most important German, Renaissance mathematici gave up being a priest and became professor for mathematics on Germany’s first gymnasium in Nürnberg because of the Bauernkrieg
His correspondence with Willibald Pirckheimer during this period talking about how much he hated the peasants is wild. 😂
