One of my biggest pet peeves: programs stealing focus. I'll be typing along at 90+ wpm, and suddenly some software pulls up a window that captures the input, accepts my errant keystrokes, and starts doing stuff. I go from being in a productive-zen zone to having to troubleshoot two different apps.
