It's a lot easier to sell the idea that everything is fine actually than to actually try and deal with problems. This culture war is being fought to defend the 'right' to do that.
I don't know if or how we will recover from a conservative / anti-vaxx / woo woo consensus formed during the pandemic that the doctors, scientists, and public health officials who took the pandemic seriously and wanted actions taken to save lives & reduce injury were the enemies.

Spreading COVID denial is evil. I've friends who died, family who died, and friends who were medics in hospitals at the time. We MUST learn the lessons because it will happen again.
That whole government was certainly politically & possibly criminally, corrupt. It was clearly incompetent & imo grossly negligent putting Brexit before a pandemic & allowing between 25, 000 & 40, 000 people to die needlessly. It brought in mitigations too late & relaxed them too early.
