Mammatus clouds over Yaxley Acres right now. Very cool!

A bit of megafauna on the way home this evening. Looking somewhat scrawny, and allowed close approach so possibly not very well.

This black crust on a dead oak branch turned out to be the lichen Catillaria nigroclavata, second occurrence in Norfolk. Not all lichens are good lookin’ y’know.

A mystery pinhead fungus on dead grass from yesterday, trying to get to the bottom of identifying these tiny things can be quite a journey. Spores in second photo.

Well, LGBI 2 has a lot more species in, and does use apothecial features, but I think sedifolia has a very distinctive appearance.

Dobson’s key to UK species, no need for apothecia but assume there are more species outside the UK!

Great to see the terrestrial lichen Toninia sedifolia at its Breckland site today.
