I'm a relatively normie indie rock fan and even I am sometimes guilty of underrating Vampire Weekend. Their catalog of good-to-great songs is incredible. In my deranged calculus, this makes them "the American Los Campesinos"
I was trying to figure out which version of Nosferatu to watch on Tubi and I was reading a Guardian article about the 100th anniversary of it a couple years ago. After @rockmarooned.bsky.social came home, he pointed out to me that he was the one who wrote the Guardian article.
I've been catching up with some '70s Robert Altman movies for something I'm writing and mostly wasn't really connecting with them, more just kind of admiring what they're doing without loving it, but that only made 3 WOMEN hit extra-good. What a picture!
Watching MEGALOPOLIS on a real IMAX screen was instructive, because it really drove home that no matter how great a lot of movies look on that screen (and many do!), the kind of imagery Coppola is favoring here is rarely even on a multiplex screen, let alone the biggest one they have.

Those did make me COL (chuckle out loud) but yeah, I think a combo of being a teenager for Simpsons S3-9 and battering my own senses with Teen Titans Go has left me less receptive
Someone else said this (maybe even you??) but when you ask if it's funny you get like, still frames of mildly amusing store-name gags.
I think of myself as very animation-forward (and in fact loved S1 of UNDONE, which the Bojack guy worked on, and is not a comedy) but I simply do not watch cartoons on TV to be bummed out
I've said it before and the very reasonable response is to just watch it dude (or ignore it), but the way it's talked about has built up this block where I can't possibly imagine myself enjoying the experience. Does show have like a "Marge vs. the Monorail"??? Actual big LOLs???
