What is IG like? I kinda want to make one to keep up with local businesses and certain friends but I'm wary of mainstream social media nowadays

it’s shit I would not recommend it if you plan to grow a following or keep up with your friends because it is essentially tiktok 2.0, basically you can only grow ur acc by posting reels (videos) and the algorithm rarely shows you your following’s posts, opting to show suggested posts instead
