10/1: DEMON CITY SHINJUKU (1998). Escape from New York crossed with Hellraiser, a neon-soaked anime nightmare with some of my favorite monster designs in film history. Yoshiaki Kawajiri deserves to be in the great pantheon of horror movie directors.

10/2: SOFT by Jane Mai. If psychic powers don't exist, then why did this book I bought completely blind at SPX 2024 turn out to be a modern retelling of theee sapphic vampire story, CARMILLA? Checkmate, atheists. Anyway, this is beautiful & haunting and the final page will stick with me for a while.
