Haha, exactly the scene that inspired this!
10/2: SOFT by Jane Mai. If psychic powers don't exist, then why did this book I bought completely blind at SPX 2024 turn out to be a modern retelling of theee sapphic vampire story, CARMILLA? Checkmate, atheists. Anyway, this is beautiful & haunting and the final page will stick with me for a while.
the best part of any Dracula movie is the first act where he's pretending to be a normal dude at the opera and folks are like, "hahaha, so true, Count Dracula"
I saw the 3-D one at the Alamo ages ago, they really do hit differently if youāre in a crowd and have someone to cling to and go āEeek!ā with when Jason machetes a dude
10/1: DEMON CITY SHINJUKU (1998). Escape from New York crossed with Hellraiser, a neon-soaked anime nightmare with some of my favorite monster designs in film history. Yoshiaki Kawajiri deserves to be in the great pantheon of horror movie directors.
š¦š HALLOWEEN RONCH RECS šš¦ aka I rec a spooky film/book/comic/song/etc. every day in October or until I'm devoured by radioactive fire ants!!!
One or two should do the trick!
