There's very much this passive attitude that "it'll all work out in the end" and "history won't be kind to the bigots" but history is formed by the present, and written by the victors, and can only be won by those who fight. Not to mention that we live in the PRESENT, not "in the end."
So true, history is penned by the victorious who also scribble out even a sniff of an alternate version or those speaking them (dare to speak louder i say) That said your post reminded me of Ella Wheeler Wilcox's An Ambitious Man: “To sin by silence, when they should protest, makes cowards of men.”
Yes! There's nothing a white liberal likes better than imaging that the arc of the moral universe bends toward justice...all by itself! No intervention needed!
There is no end. History rolls on. We have a responsibility to our progeny to fight.

I *really* hate the “history won’t be kind to them….” stuff because who gives a shit. People are being hurt now.
Whenever someone is like "[insert minority] people will survive this" it's like, yeah, as a whole maybe, that group might not go extinct, but a lot of individuals of those groups will NOT survive, and they matter. They deserve to have a future as well.
This is one more reason I hate religion. It creates this passivity by convincing folks that god(s) will sort it all out. That there will be rewards and punishments after it's all over, so no need to do anything now. Just be a bystander to your entire life and hope for a better afterlife.
History will only be unkind to the bigots if we atart being unkind to the bigots.
