My nanna is about to be 96 and still refuses to be called Grandma because it makes her sound old apparently

I thought it was only my Dad who did this, have definitely found myself carrying on the tradition in moments of desperation with our little one

I'd second Shock Doctrine. I've also read Doppelganger recently which is really thought-provoking

So sorry for your loss, he looks like a great Dad and I hope your memories are some comfort

I think the date is what allows us to meaningfully start the work. Until now it's been 'the rumour is they'll be included', and it's hard to get traction with that line. It'll be even better if they say it's for books *published* from Jan 2029 but I'm not expecting that kind of helpful clarity

I'd generally agree with both of you (from a place where we definitely will be affected), but the number of exceptions and late start date of the policy was going to mean a lot of stress for relatively few books. I'm pleased they've put a definite start date in 2029 we can start working towards

This is a really interesting read. I've previously assumed that being (I think) fairly visibly queer I don't *need* to wear one, but increasingly I feel like I should wear a progress flag lanyard to signal support for trans colleagues and students

I remember a few like that when I was doing regular transpennine commutes and I've always assumed that lots of delay repay claims helps them make a case for more staff, better pay, better timetables etc.

This looks really interesting! I was intrigued by the point about the Latin American publishing system. Are you trying to balance having similar enough studies to allow for meaningful comparison with being inclusive? Looking forward to reading the full review

Great, I'll drop you an email to work out dates
