Walgreens announced they’re closing 1500 stores due to low general merchandise sales. I wonder if having to have an employee unlock the merchandise might be a root cause.
Them and CVS both. CVS bought a local long standing drug store chain and ran them into the ground. Will never use either of them.
Part of the issue is that they USED to have reasonable pricing and a solid stock of both medicinal and other products. Now, it's all locked cases, higher prices and poor selection. No surprise at all to me that they're flailing.
So weird. The Walgreens I go to in Ft. Payne, AL, doesn't have any of those things locked up, that I've noticed. The local Walmart has some razor-related things in a case, but they've dialed that back down since 2021.
Particularly in conjunction with their penchant for staffing levels best described as "slow day in a ghost town".
