Why does it drive me nuts that some women think they have to be married? I totally understand it and I am married.Maybe it's the idea that a man must 'pick you'? No no no no no. The thing that will make me most happy is if no woman thinks this in America.

Well, I know why it pisses me off. My mom's entire life is a string of men who aren't worth the shit on her shoe treating her terribly. She's one of the smartest people I know, and I know some smart motherfuckers, and she's been making herself small for men for 70 years. Infuriating.

The marriage bar operated until the 1970s (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marriag...). If survival means tying yourself to a man that's probs what you do. Gen X watched our parents realise they had better options than their parents did, and change so much for the better because of it.
