I read something a while ago that younger generations are used to boycotts and think withholding their vote is the same as boycotting but it's not the same as boycotting, it literally just deprives you of power if you don't vote

Less than half of 18-24 year olds voted in the Brexit vote, despite being the generation most affected by the long term consequences. For 50 years, the birth rate in the UK has been below replacement levels. So the cards are already stacked against smaller, younger generations.

Not to mention that it's thoughtless and disrespectful because of the generations who fought for the right to vote

like, if you don't vote, that doesn't "send a message" to anyone, no one cares, you just made it easier for the party that you don't want to win- to win
