kokichi ouma is forever my favorite character i think, of all time. why? he just gets owned. he suffers for nothing. he's a victim of the circumstances. "it's cringe to like danganronpa!" glass houses. don't throw rocks from them if you aren't prepared for my bulldozer

when i played that game, my understanding of it changed immediately. maybe it was because i could pick up on all the subtle foreshadowing but oh my god. the pervasive sense of dread throughout playing that game was INTENSE. the mood he set was fucking incredible.

4. drv3: boy...where do i start with this game. i read all the spoilers after jp release and was super prepared to be disappointed. for a month after knowing how the game ended, i was super peeved out. but then! but then. i read interviews. kodaka tweeted on english release "i want you to live"

do i think 999 should'v been a series? actually, no, but i enjoy the other games for what they are. only reason ghost trick isn't on here is because aa3 was like My Childhood Bro and i didn't want two takumi games on here.

one of the most solid stories i've read period. granted i'm not the most experienced VN reader despite only really playing VNs i don't play a lot of anything anymore, ghost trick would definitely be the only piece of media i think is better. (mainly because i find succinct standalones powerufl)

3. 999: i was in absolutely TERRIBLE company getting into this series but holy shit. my introduction to uchikoshi was still amazing. "what do you think is happening right now?" my friends would ask me. and i *never* once knew. let me tell ya that.

and as the flurry comes down you realize even as achild that the world is sometimes just too cruel to people who didn't do anything to deserve it, simply because of happenstance. pure coincidence. no malice from the world, just a tragic, recurring stroke of bad luck.

2. PL3: you play the first two games thinking its gonna be a fun sweet maybe melancholy story yet again this time but when you're twelve you're not really picking up on the core themes building up until its too late. and then you're broken up and sobbing as professor layton cries in the snow...
