I think if a card is so good that it makes almost any deck better, regardless of color identity or archetype, then it should probably be banned. That said, I'm a filthy casual who thinks the best version of magic is the one created by a friend group unconcerned with "competitive magic"

I think they explained their reasoning well and I tend to agree with it. And after all, they can ban whatever they want - in your local playgroup, play whatever cards you like as long as everybody is into it. For more "official" settings, even for "casual" EDH, some restrictions make sense IMO
