British-Egyptian activist and writer Alaa Abd el-Fattah's sentence will end in two days. There are no indications that the UK's foreign secretary, who championed the case while in opposition, has said or done anything to remind the Egyptian authorities that it is time for him to walk free. Alaa's family held a press conference yesterday in London with former detainee Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffee, to discuss how the new British government is failing to live up to their promises on hostage diplomacy and Alaa's case while in opposition. This includes a promise in the Labour manifesto.
