And the symbolism should be lost on nobody: trying to find your way out of such an addiction is as hard as trying to find your way to the exit in a casino. Even Ikea could take some pointers from them.
I think you are looking at this the wrong way Think of how much more effective that money becomes as an economic driver when taken out of the hands of people that would use it to go bankrupt betting on sports vs in the hands of people capable of building and funding gambling websites!🤪

I think the problem the US has is that it went from incredibly tightly controlled gambling to a free for all. We have had legalised betting on every high street since 1960, and while there are always going to be issues, they seem much less than yours I guess with the internet, choices were limited
