Recent mismanagement of political stories ahead of the election, and other issues, have led Drew Magary to say that the New York Times is no longer relevant.
The dance makes more sense when you realize Trump's people are leading him to throw the election, and the prestige news media is coronating #HolocaustHarris by pretending to vet her.

So the idea that the Times will be the last to recognize its irrelevance is largely right but framing it as bothsidesing is not. As @mtsw.bsky.social continually notes the NYT is the way it is because it wants Trump to win.

They've even gone to far as to clearly be cooking their poll results. The pollsters just come and say they over sample non-college educated people, a group very positive to Trump. Like, you only do that if you are looking to skew the poll to your favored candidate or make the race look close.

More generous than my take. I think that major media ownership largely and the NYT in particular want Putin's viceroy back in office for tax cuts for the ownership.
If that's the case... How come they didn't prop up Biden when he fell behind in the polls? I think there's more evidence for an alternate hypothesis: "They like Donald Trump and they want him to win."
I feel the same way about the NYT but did take them up on the weird offer through my instacart to get NYT Cooking free for a year
So telling that Sulzberger pens an opinion piece in the (wait for it…) WaPo about Trumpism and its danger to a free press & democracy and then allows the NYT to continue its distorted “horse race” coverage of the campaigns.
