Kamala does seem to be a true believer in family welfare stuff. this would be huge
Kamala Harris will propose a major new initiative today: expanding Medicare to cover the cost of long-term care at home
Harris will pitch the initiative as a way to help "sandwich generation" families and propose paying for it mostly with savings from Medicare drug negotiations.
It would help so many Americans. It's good to help people in real need. It's what the money is there for. Americans help each other. The billionaires need to pay their fair share of taxes and churches who are technically a business need to do the same.
This would change lives. If baby steps is the way to eventually hit Medicare for All, let's go for it
And a good recognition that, on the demand side, this is a moms'/caregivers' election, just like every election since Covid. What the moms for liberty and Indivisible have in common is their likelihood of being sandwiched by child- and elder-care.
We took care of my Mom, my partners Mom and my Sis in law, over the course of 30 yrs. We went through our savings, all of it, as they didn't have much of anything to help with the expenses, which are vast, and doesn't even include lost wages. This would be incredible. I hope it gets done.
With Kamala, USA will become a "socialist country" like Canada! (*laugh*)
this is a good thing- but how likely is it to come to fruition with republican opposition and democrat rollover modus operandi?
bring back the low hanging obviously good-for-all-time policies we got during covid that her boss took away (child tax credit checks, free school lunch)
