People say their LARP character or Wasteland personality feels “more like them” than who they are in real life. When you’re not hampered by socioeconomic status or institutional barriers, you are more likely to be who you actually are, not just who you are in survival mode.
I’m occasionally reminded of this zen parable: A student monk sees his teacher balancing on a precarious board. He asked his teacher, “how do you never lose your balance?” The teacher said, “I am always losing my balance. Balance is how quickly you recover.”
