Reminds me of the idiocy back when some wierdo leftists tried to start a discourse how communal kirches in Soviet aparment building were actually good and helped raise sense of community when in fact it was a place where frequently violence among neighbors happened.

Communal kitchens sucked. It was nice to have your neighbours make a meal from time to time, but having to deal with assholes and alcoholics while having relatively little privacy (my mom's experience) was unpleasant. Anyone who eulogizes the communal apartment never shared a kitchen in residence.
