I’ve often thought that on some level men can, and should, be judged based on their relationships with cats.

Oh, I do. If they hate cats, especially if they rant about it, I walk away. its fine if they are indifferent and wouldn't really choose to have one but are kind enough to mine. It's when they make a point of making it clear they HATE cats, that I get nervous.

My husband came with three cats that he adored (and who adored him). It was a significant factor in my attraction to him. 🥰 19 years later we have three different cats, but they still love him more than they love me. 😂
