It’s interesting that they treat this as a new thing, as if Ireland hadn’t produced most of the literary talent on the British Isles for 350 years.

Basic income schemes are so good. I knew musicians in Holland who had this. The contrast post-graduation between them (able to put together ensembles and practise, take time to plan next moves) and those of us in the UK (grab any work going, random teaching, try to juggle everything) was huge.
