Republicans will not listen to your voice. Democrats may also not listen, but there is a better chance they will. by yourself you can't do anything about the situation, but that doesn't make you selfish.

The idea it's selfish to focus on your suffering instead of theirs, in this case, is a circular reasoning fallacy. How can you help them if you are constantly suffering already? How can you give anything when you're being stolen from?
