and if episode 4 really is the last one i am not very optimistic about them being able to wrap this series up nicely because they have... 7 chapters left to cram into that last episode. i don't have high hopes. with how much stuff they cut out i bet we won't even get the silly beach panel animated
tldr-the story in ep1 is really only good because you can't see the cracks forming. i still find it incredibly strange they didnt make episode 1 strictly "the spiral obsession" parts 1 and 2 before branching off in a different direction. lots of the story decisions made here baffle me
cant sleep so i figured out how to find ep1: animation wise it's the best episode but my gripes with the way they're choosing to tell the story still remain. it's not really as big of a deal here though since ep1 is the start of multiple chapters in the manga so they don't exactly clash yet
watch it fly by as the pendulum swings
it's not good read the manga instead. the whole story is incredibly rushed and so much info is just left out. idk why this took four years to make because it sure as hell doesn't feel like they used that time wisely
ok she's dead now and shuichi is depressed...far later than he should be in the story. honestly i kinda hate this change because shuichi becoming a shut in at the beginning of the story is kinda what kickstarts his obsession with the spiral curse, at least the way I understood it
okay maybe i need to find a way to watch episode 1 because they're meshing multiple chapters into one another instead of telling the story chronologically...and shuichi's mom is still alive? i thought they were doing it 1 to 1
starting the uzumaki anime (minus ep1 bc i didnt have that recorded, but i've read the manga so i know what happens)
