The modern greyhound originates in early mediaeval Ireland, where it was bred by monks who needed a dog flexible enough to fit into the initials in their illuminated manuscripts.

Gosh - so many to choose from! Definitely the Insular manuscripts and the manuscript making materials. The Hillinus codex was also a favourite. I was very disappointed not to see the Pangur Ban poem - as the manuscript was opened on a different page! It was such a wonderful exhibition though
