I'd guess there's still a lot of prestige associated with the name. It's THE hybrid all these years later, despite everyone pivoting that way. Given its been so long since the OG release though, I'd have considered the 'Prius 2', 'Prius Evo' or the like for some distance.
I wonder if due to the sausagefest nature of the community, a majority of the sex has to be gay-adjacent and the usual unfortunate stigmas for that are then compounded by the additional 'otherness' of being a furry.
So I'd hazard a guess that sex in the furry community is much more widespread than most of them would like to admit, which is both good and bad. Good because... sex. And bad because there's a shame or disgust there.
I get suspicious about any group that has to insist 'it's not all about sex!' Particularly a niche, nerd one like this. Contrast with Trekkies for instance, where they have to insist the opposite. 'We DO have sex, honest!' (Trekkies are notoriously randy, btw.)
Well, there's a new fact for the day. But what's this 'just' a sexual fetish phraseology? Why is a fetish 'less' than an interest in cosplay, Marvel, or woodworking for that matter?
Actually this is the first time I've ever seriously considered it and that makes perfect sense. We all feel freer under masks, and if that mask extends to an entire animalistic persona... So maybe I do get it after all.

That's just a start though. If you're really struggling with it, and experiencing negative emotions as a result, it's time to put down the erotica and see a professional in real life. Even my files, which I like to think are more thoughtful than most, are no substitute for real therapeutic care.
