My 3yo's favourite game to play with me this week- phonics car park! I line up some cards and say one of the sounds, then he parks a car on the right card and says the sound. Endless fun!

I've had that too! So frustrating.
Three bits of poor observation feedback I had early in my career: 1) Despite there being phonics flashcards in my mentor's classroom, I should have printed/ laminated my own. 2) I must choose a group and sit with them for the whole lesson. 3) Make the children guess the WALT.
