One of the relatively rare occasions that the existence of Sephardic Jews is mentioned in the mainstream media, and it's this? Greeeat.
This so much. As somebody who is now much older than the average college student (and who has taught college) I try to have grace, but damned if it's hard to not eye roll at some of this stuff.
The second book in Becky Chambers' Wayfarers series. I can't recommend this series highly enough. I think it ticks a lot of your boxes.
The last few years of my mother's life was made demonstrably worse by our terrible caregiving policies, and I'll fight anyone who says it's NBD. (I mean, I wish I could be optimistic about its chances of passing, but it's a good plan.)
That actually makes a lot of sense. In both cases, she has a similar attitude of MINE MINE NOBODY EVEN LOOK AT WHAT'S MINE.
Is this toy insecurity the result of trauma or is she just That Extra? (Keep in mind that her sister has none of these issues, despite being raised in the same environment and being near-identical twins.)
When we adopted our cats, the rescue org said that one of them has food insecurity because they spent the first few months of their life without much food. (Boo, hiss.) What they failed to mention is that this same cat also has toy insecurity. (i.e. she thinks someone is going to steal her toys.)
Random fact: Last year, my dad and I came across the most recent Joker movie being filmed when we went to Yankee Stadium. Luckily, they had just finished filming so we could get a parking spot. That is the nicest thing I have to say about this franchise.
Now that people apparently hate the latest Joker movie, can we all admit that the first one was total trash, too? I honestly try not to be a hater, but that was the most dreary two hours of cinema I've ever had the misfortune to experience.
