So many beloved books haven't been lucky enough to get audiobooks -- early in the pandemic I was doing daily read-aloud livestreams, and people are still occasionally discovering my videos of Steven Brust's "Cowboy Feng's" and thanking me for recording it (even though they're far from professional!)
This is a "Silkwood shower" situation.
I just learned that I've been mishearing a song lyric for over 20 years. In Weezer's "Pink Triangle," I thought the line "see a sweet in floral prints" was "she is waiting for a prince." Thank you for respecting my family's privacy during this difficult time.
Sure, "trucking," why not.
Oh my god, I have a new phone and the keyboard keeps trucking me into typing spaces where I want a period. I feel so old 😭
Tbh, it's very easy to kneejerk your way into commenting on something you didn't fully read. I try not judge people too harshly when they do it, but likewise I try to avoid it myself because it can stress someone out who doesn't deserve it!
I get that I hate ebooks because I get screen fatigue; I have to REALLY want to read it and REALLY not want to wait for the library to transfer a copy 😅
Oh my god, I listened to a book where the narrator kept doing accents that contradicted how people were described! It would say "She said, with only a trace of Spanish accent," and then he'd do the most Speedy Gonzalez shit I've ever heard. I might write an email to the publisher.
That is an album title. Possibly not yours...but someone's.
I would express it as "I'm having a hard time focusing on reading text right now," because it applies to long articles as well as books. Or to imply books specifically, maybe "I've been having a hard time focusing on physical books"...although that might make someone think ebooks are ok?
