I love numbers. They are where you find truth, but they can be abused.
At a previous employment we had a dashboard which showed which things were working (green) and which weren’t (red). Clear, immediate, useful. I had to write a script (green.bat) which we ran before management visited which made everything green. After they had gone, truth.bat returned us to reality.
Guess who’s managers have given them a new metric for their KPIs? I will never have one in the house, or anything else voice operated. Too many years in IT to trust any of them.
