one of my funniest experiences there was being asked to run an analysis in "any language other than R" bc editors wanted to see if some results were the same recreated another way. so I set it up in python and it checked out and then we published. should it have been peer reviewed formally? 🤷♂️
I don't love it, but I do think the methods section at the bottom of the article shows a good faith effort. I think this is a case of journo demands (pace + novelty) just clashing w academic publishing norms
