If indeed there are points of failure (inevitable in any movement), the questions should be whether they are due to policy design, a misreading of the political economy in which the policies were situated, or a miscalculation of the forecast for how policy was used for powerbuilding

I think if you talk to people who are constantly shifting positions, head on fire (*cough*Stoller*cough*), as a matter of public positioning, you're gonna get a view that I think is not shared by other folks who are on the inside thinking about how this cashes out in the long term
