Parsing in FFXIV is funny because they routinely demonstrate they do not understand how statistics work. You can GENUINELY find people who say things like "if you aren't parsing at top 5% you're trash". You cannot have a top 5% without the other 95% existing.

i remember i got 100th on Faust Z because i frantically begged my group to stop everything they were doing at the last second so i could get my last Fell Cleave off back in Heavensward parsing was so silly cuz its all gamed anyway

The worst part about a lot of them demanding such a high percentage over just a stationary number, is if you explain that to them, they will get upset at you and try to plug you into a global raider blacklist, saying that that's not how it works.

Taking parsing seriously is sisyphean in nature due to just how much stuff is out of your control, combined with the fact that you can kill a boss and submit a parse as many times as you want (or kill a boss and NOT submit a parse because you did bad, and make yourself look better on average.)
