It's October and you know what that means - ART CHALLENGES. In light of this I would like to reintroduce a series I did during 2020, when everyone was experiencing massive burnout. These are tips for how to improve as an artist *without actually making any art*. Individual panels in the replies.

From a series of tips for artists and creators entitled "Ways to become a better artist that don't involve actually making art."

This image includes the full set of panels for one tip. The panels will also be posted individually in this thread and will include a full transcription for every panel. The panels themselves consist mostly of text with some images.

The text at the top reads "Ways to become a better artist that don't involve actually making art." Below that is a subtitle that reads "Or how to supplement your 10,000 hours."

This is the header panel for tip number 1, entitled "Know you are enough." The quote below the title text reads "Quality is a word that assumes all parties have the same point of view. Judy Elliott."

Below this text is an illustration of a three toed sloth, facing away from the viewer, holding up a hand mirror and smiling at the face they sees reflected in it, emoting a small heart above their head.

I'd like to take a moment to remind the artists out there that you aren't obligated to commit to a full run on any of these challenges, or even to make any art this month at all. Don't burn yourself out over this. There is a lot of pressure to perform, but it's okay to just take a breather.

We all want to get better,
but everyone takes their own path
and moves at their own pace
to get there.

Text is laid out on the page in a way that emphasizes the weighted line breaks.
Every artist is different. They make different art, have different workflows, work at different speeds, and live different lives with different sets of circumstances. But it's easy to feel pressured, especially when you see what other people around you are doing or are fighting internet algorithms that favor constant output. Comparing yourself to other people is a really good way to feel bad about yourself, though.

Art isn't a race.

You aren't in a competition.
