This is supposed to be where I add additional insight into the topic of the day. DYN kiwis... have the largest egg-to-body weight ratios of any bird? are in the group of birds most closely related to dinosaurs? uniquely have nostrils on the tips of their beaks (and an excellent sense of smell)?

Don't become dependent on objects or circumstances to the point that it holds you back.
Let me tell it like it is. You don't need that special drawing pen, your favorite sketchbook with the fun cover, a certain, ahem, chemical cocktail, that very specific writing program (I'm looking at you GRRM), or whatever other little helper you think you need to be successful or, well, to do what it is that you do.
I'm not saying to become a monk, or to deprive yourself of the comforts that specific things can provide, but rather to not convince yourself that you need them when, in all honesty, you just don't. Great art can be made on a paper tablecloth with kiddie crayons at a restaurant. They might not be as easy to work with, sure, and having good materials definitely makes life easier, but never think you need them.
On that same note, don't hold certain tools in high esteem. Having those markers you've been eyeballing might make applying color easier but they absolutely won't make you an art star overnight. So don't ever hold yourself back thinking you can't make good work without them. Often it's just an excuse to not try at all.
