The real challenge I am excited to tackle is how best to approach my innate need for chaos and and player driven plot within the structure of an adventure module - how to make it feel as open world as a homebrew campaign but with a core plot and path hiding in there for the players to find.

I think this is were I am going to go. Makes backstory sense as well as the character lost their kingdom and has spent the last few years wandering the northern wilds, so will probably end up as an Druid of the Arctic/Tempest Cleric with their Ranger/barbarian buddy.

I would say no - rubbing it on skin, etc. wouldn't cause the same affects as putting it on a finger, and eating seems to fit in that category. Now, the ring might being wearing you at that point...

Lot more idea here than character limits allow, but our regular October convention is defunct, so thinking of new ideas to fill that space - and building sharable collaborative stories where the players make the story is my jam.

100% agree - the dice are the random element that takes the story in a direction neither the players or GM expected, at that's the fun of the process - ending up in a surprising place at the end that nobody expected.

I am in the use it as a reference sheet for key information camp, so if I use one it is usually laying down on the table like any other papers/prep. I don't generally hide rolls from players, so not an issue on that front.
