There’s an interesting parallel between how fascism is the violent repression of the periphery brought to the imperial core, and how yesterday was the violence that the GOP’s policies push outwards onto the edges of society turned in a single, violent moment on it’s current core, Donald Trump.
Wanted to give my strongest recommendation to Radu Jude’s film “Do Not Expect Too Much From The End Of The World.” The best representation of the creeping hellscape of late capitalism I’ve ever seen. Also, it’s hilarious! Streaming on Mubi.

A film recommendation since it's newly added to the Criterion Channel: Jacques Rivette's Duelle, an utterly bizarre and deeply hypnotic film. Read nothing about it, since the descriptions of it all spoil what would otherwise be an absolutely astonishing twist. Also, the greatest poster ever!
With the inspiring student protests across the country (including at OSU), it's a good time to watch this excellent documentary by Third World Newsreel about the Columbia Revolt in 1968. Thanks to BAM Cinemtek for, years ago, programming this on a double bill with Zero de Conduite.
Documentary on the Columbia University student strike and takeover in 1969.
the students/protestors chanting at the line of riotous cops: who failed Uvalde?! DPS!
I see Columbia is continuing its grand tradition of calling in the riot squad to assault peaceful protestors.
On Lloyd Alexander’s 100th birthday, it’s a good time to read about the Prydain Chronicles and Sartre!
Maybe there is another model for fantasy, one that does not simply eschew the Christian framework established by Tolkien and Lewis that so defines the genre, but complicates it, turning the focus away...
