I imagine it refers to the sort of progressives who called Hamas’ 10/7 attack “a historic win for the Palestinian resistance” or who said, re 10/7, “supporting Palestinian liberation is supporting whatever means necessary it takes to get there.”

The former is a direct quote from SJP’s national office, the latter from the lead sponsor of the “Flood Brooklyn” protest (named after Hamas own name for the 10/7 op: “Al-Aqsa Flood”). It’s fine—good!—not to align with groups like that, but their existence isn’t some invented concoction.
