There are a growing number of people over there who are determined to stick it out and fight back against awful people I’m definitely one of them, I won’t be driven off a platform by the bad guys. I post a lot less than I used to (60% less according to data), but I’m staying and resisting 💪🏻
The owner is the problem. The writing was on the wall from the day he acquired Twitter. I’m surprised I lasted until just last week. He’s destroyed a great platform.
Anyone recommend an app to stop the ads on twitter? They're coming up every third post for me
X relies on network effects to draw ppl, producing even benign content makes it sticky. Just withdrawing your free labour on behalf of musk reduces it marginally and eventually everyone leaves and it becomes MySpace
I think this is nostalgia for a site that is long gone, both in terms of being a nice place to hang out and a useful place for work stuff. That place just doesn’t exist anymore and I don’t think will ever return. But still using it just contributes to it the idea it still matters.
Unfortunately this is a misguided idea. There is no meaningful way to fight back when the site owner is determined that the awful people will win.
Yes, keep at it, and same here I think
I respect your gumption, but I’m sorry to say I absolutely do not think this will work. The site is owned and micromanaged by someone who is dedicated to making the awful people win. Unless he goes, it’s cooked.
I hear this, but is the "space" GM references not just 'the interne BBt' as opposed to one specific platform. We're not being driven out. The party ended when the skinheads turned up. So now we have our own party, but all the time we go back to theirs, it convinces them we love them
I say leave them to their echo chamber, then they'll be all the more shocked when they find out the rest of the world doesn't agree with them. There's no reasoning with charlatans, liars and conspiracy theorists, and that's before you get to the Bots
