I saw #Batman in a theater today for the first time since 06/24/89. The mother of all modern IP-specific blockbusters showed its age even while aging with grace. Hollywood has spent the last 35 years chasing that initial "Wow, this (insert IP) is now a big-deal, big-budget live-action film!" high.

It was transformative to see the source material treated with respect. When Batman says the Joker is psychotic, and Vicki Vale tells him "Some people say the same thing about you," I (as a comics fan) felt seen for the first time.
