The new Víctor Erice movie, CLOSE YOUR EYES, is a g-d miracle, a premium Old Guy film made with the same quiet mastery of his THE SPIRIT OF THE BEEHIVE. Should be widely celebrated, however limited its release.
I begrudgingly watched it on a plane - because it was and still is the biggest screen I've been able to see it on - and it indeed felt like a low-key miracle.
OH man, I loved that movie, but then existential missing-person mysteries are like catnip to me. Didn't get the chance to see it on the big screen, but it's on VOD and streaming in the UK.

have no idea when I'll be able to see it, but very excited to. Spirit of the Beehive is an all-time fav, and I recently caught up with El Sur, which is just as good
