*If I go in without ANY prompts. What is grammar These prompts don't need to be from any source, it could just be "hey maybe somebody skateboarding". It helps if I have a very loose narrative in mind before I start
Also important for me to remember that if I don't practice regularly, the amount of bad drawings I need to get out before I can make anything worth looking at keeps going up. Anyway, it's nice to have a long weekend so I can use some creative juice on something that isn't work.
This book fucking rocks. It captures such a clear and distinct vibe of culturally-situated early-twenties life, like Scott Pilgrim and Wendy but is as different from them as they are from each other. Viciously funny- I laughed out loud multiple times in the park. Read it!!
Like I'm not gonna post any more of this (pick it up!) but i love this approach to sequential art, a lot of adventurous paneling choices right away, keeps me on my toes and feels fresh
It's on the edge but if it were mid September I'd have surrendered to them
I'm not an afficionado but the art actually feels very reminiscent of American comics from the mid-century up to the 80s. Eisner is coming to mind. Manga often handles paneling and BGs quite differently from western comics, but it's all just comics, all made with the same tools!
Hope everyone is doing well here on blue sky, I am never here because I would rather torture myself on the bad site for some reason
And half-baked sound design can ruin one! Nothing life hearing the same footstep repeated dozens of times when a character's walking around (not uncommon in student or independent work)
the point: our sense of hearing can be very powerful and very precise. don't neglect sound design in your films!
Yes please! I've been wanting to ask but I know you've been totally swamped haha. Soon enough!
