Badge troubles continue, today my lamination machine decided it was hungry, I ended up purchasing a new one which will arrive this weekend, but it's important that I document these things for my eventual memoir of my life ^w^;;
I need some ideas for Halloweeny pictures!
Some sketches I've been working on, the latter three I did this evening, but the first one I started the other day! The first one is a WIP, but the others may just be sketches for now! #SkritchBook
Additionally, the recent Pac-Man piece features a set of arcade style scatter brushes I made specifically for this project! I've provided them as a free download on my Ko-Fi for anyone that uses Paint Tool Sai 2! Tips appreciated, but not required! https://ko-fi.com/s/93de3051ac
That's all I have to say for now, thanks for reading! I'd love to do more things like this, gush about my work. This was a fun project, and being able to talk about it also really helps me feel so good about it!
The background detail here was meant to imitate that of a carpet you'd see in an old arcade. For this, I opted to design my own set of scatter brushes, which I have provided as a free download on my Ko-fi! https://ko-fi.com/s/93de3051ac
The only graphics here that I did not recreate, but instead pasted in and edited, were the cards for the instructions and the scores, with the same binary effect as used above. They wouldn't have been legible, but they look neat this way I think!
For the game screen, I also recreated a game of Pac-Man in a vector layer so I could contort it around for the reflection effect, there's actually a bottom of the screen here that isn't seen. I have a binary effect on the layer to give it a fun pixel appearance!
In order to nail the look, I heavily referenced full vector renders provided by https://www.classicgaming.cc/classics/pac-man/vector-art, but rather than paste them and adjust them for perspective, I redid every single graphic to maintain visual consistency with my line/art style
The design of the machine is accurate to the one produced in 1980 by Bally Midway (Midway Games RIP), which features art allegedly done by a Midway artist named Gordon Morrison. (This is speculated, not confirmed) The art being the American take on what Pac-Man would look like.
