Oof, been on a social media hiatus for a while for health things, but let me know if you're still needing an editor! I've got some peeps I could definitely recommend ๐
Yep!! It JUST went live in the shop yesterday! @scrivthebard.bsky.social did a great job with it, and we're excited to be able to have it exclusively on Tattered Bear!
There will always be people, in every profession, who will try to enforce exclusivity. But the fact that we must keep fighting this in a creative industry is absurd. Thank you for keeping the conversation going!
So stop gatekeeping, y'all. Setting standards that are not immediately accessible to the broad community (esp in the indie world), prevents the growth and diversity of the field.
This is different from a profession in, say, the medical field. Someone who knows basic first aid isn't a doctor. There's a certain threshold there that is linked to risk mitigation & the safety of others. But that threshold doesn't need to exist in creative spaces
Claiming you need a degree, must be published, or must have earned money to claim a title is elitist and harmful to the growth of the field. There are different levels in quality of work/experience, certainly, and any creator should be compensated fairly for the work/quality of work they produce.
Game design is the process of creating and shaping the mechanics, systems, and rules of a game. It is more than simple storytelling, however there are many GMs who do this in their home games. Not every GM is a game designer, but many are absolutely able to claim that title.
A student dancer is still a dancer, even if they've never made it on stage. A musician can practice their craft without being paid to do so. A home cook is still a cook (though not necessarily a chef).
Signed up!! This looks beautiful, I can't wait to see more!!!
I absolutely agree! I LOVE seeing the different ways Kishotenketsu and other non-Hero's journey tales are used. The world is full of different storytelling traditions. Lots of wonderful things to learn ๐
