Hoping to see my old mutuals here… I usually chat about fandom stuff, but I do open my page up to biology talks, I am partial to the insect world but love hearing about other people’s experiences and research

Omg. Look into Phidippus regius if you need an arachnophobia cure. I owned two and they changed my view of spiders completely. And I totally understand! Any insect out of the norm gets a ‘why?’… it’s because they’re cool! That’s why! Keep me updated on your research, I love hearing about it!

insects other than bees which is nice, but I think it’s great to explore other insects that have large roles in an ecosystem. I would LOVE to get into millipede research. Is your interest in roaches well received amongst other entomologists? Or those who aren’t entomologists?

that’s really neat! cockroaches are really cool; I do think they have a bad reputation but i’ve heard colony keeps say they can have personality, and the stuff about their social structure really tells us they’re more than just a bunch of mindless pests. Pollinator work is starting to recognize

And I wish you good luck in October! It sounds like really interesting research. My uni specializes in agriculture, so a lot of the entom projects are focused on pest management. I think there should be a bigger push for detritivore/decomposer research… but the world loves pollinators for a reason

I know it’s been a while but I still am not over the ‘new’ placement of termites into the order Blattodea 😭 That’s super interesting! I’ve always had a general interest in social insects but I forget that some roaches fall under that category. Do colonies have a super-sister system like bees/ants?
