However, we now have a universal workaround: For travel London <> any station Newcastle-Edinburgh inclusive, don’t book to/from London: At lner.co.uk 1. Book to/from Finsbury Park 2. In the search results, click 'Filters' then 'Route options'. Under 'Go via ' enter Kings Cross.
On the left: Newcastle>London tomorrow. £104.50 is non-refundable, only good for 70-min time slot, no break of journey, LNER only. On the right: Newcastle>Finsbury Park via London. £87.90 is refundable, good all day on any off-peak train, break of journey fine, any operator
thank you for your service 🙏
Presumably there’s no issue with getting through the barrier at KX with this ticket?
Hmm I have to get from London to Leicester next week. Wonder what the best route for that is!
Better to book to Stevenage if you're travelling intercity, that way you can usually wrangle a way to stay on the same train rather than having to change umpteen times
I think, from my Edinburgh-Bath journey last week, it still won’t show you a train where the advance tickets are sold out, though, if you want to know when to travel.
Oh, I’d like to share this with my colleague in Newcastle, is this info on your website?
Do you think the rail companies realise that their bafflingly complex fare structures put a huge number of people off using the train? I’m sure many people are left with the impression that train travel is unaffordable unless you are able to play 4D chess with the timetable.
