I really want to look forward to Tottenham’s Europa League games, like I did the old Jol-Berbatov-UEFA Cup nights. And that came from the attitude of the players and their investment in those occasions.
I’m looking forward to tonight Seb. Hopefully it’ll be a great atmosphere! First night back at home under the lights in Europe in quite a while!
There’s no excuse for any resentful “it’s not the Champions League” sulking among this group, because so few have any sort of pedigree at that level.
Small detail, but I'm not a fan of the current font for the shirt number - the old filled on serif one was much nicer.
UEFA (with the clubs) degraded this competition, not the fans!
Love European nights, got to go deep into this competition
I still maintain that the best atmosphere I ever experienced at Spurs was the second half of the 2-2 draw with Sevilla in the UEFA Cup QF, where we came back from 2 down and laid siege to their goal (ultimately going out but with pride well and truly intact).
A realignment of expectations and having had a year out should help. Also the introduction of the UCL has helped its image, in a weird way. Don't understand why some Spurs fans would dismiss - the club has significant heritage in this very competition!
One of my favourite memories of European football was a 2-0 win away to Besiktas in 2006 which included Berbatov's first goal for the club. I remember being absolutely blown away by the crowd who did not stop chanting at any point during the game, and clapped us off at the end
