Thanks for the review. Agree with your points towards the end about not updating it properly. And wanted to say that the history departments are so small at our universities particularly in terms of historians of AoNZ that you can count them on one hand. Many more outside unis than in them.

Nice review Philip. I read the first edition when I first arrived to live on these shores in 2003 and it informed much of my perception of Aotearoa at the time. Re reading as an established ‘Kiwi’ from a very different Otautahi 20 years later sounds like it might be both challenging and refreshing.
